NEW YORK — A New York City nurse practitioner’s two-year-old son is hospitalized in critical condition after being fatally shot in Brooklyn.CBS 2’s Lisa Mazzilli reports.
Video from the scene shows the boy lying on the floor of the ambulance in the early hours of Wednesday morning, suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.
His mother is in critical but stable condition.
Her son, a student at Brooklyn Technical High School, was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The shooting occurred in the area of 43rd Street and Broadway in the Bronx.
Police say the boy was sitting in the backseat of the vehicle when someone inside opened fire.
The driver was hit and the child was not hit.
Witnesses reported seeing the driver get out of the car and walk away from the vehicle.
The driver, who is still at large, was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder.
